Buttermilk Cocoa Soap

...it´s a long time till I didn´t post any recipe, but good things come to those who wait and this soap is veeeery good, heavenly good 😉 it is my number one rigt now! 

Milk soaps are generally my favorites and this buttermilk one is one of them. The recipe is quite simple, but if you are beginner try for first /or second too/ time recipe without milk.

The recipe:

Gloves, goggles, long sleeves, ventilated area. When splashing lye water or fresh soap on skin rinse the area with tapped water for 15 min.

Preparation:

• Two months before making this soap: infuse annato seed powder in olive oil for nice orange colour 

• Few hours before making this soap: freeze the buttermilk in ice cube tray

 Process:

• Weight all the ingredients

• Slowly add sodium hydroxide to the frozen buttermilk cubes and stir till it all dissolves /this can take some time, be patient 😊/

• Melt coconut oil and lard, add remaining oils and let cool to 38℃

• Pour the lye milk /35℃/ through sifter into oils and stick blend to thin trace

• Add essential oils and whisk- you don´t want thick trace for the first layer

• Pour the first layer of the soap in half of the mould and let sit at least for 5 min /if you want perfect line- perfect layers you have to wait longer, however the remaining soap can start to harden in your container while waiting, so it´s better to split the whole batch of oils and lye milk before mixing together, so you have enough time to work with the soap, but more dishes to clean 😁/

• Add cocoa powder mixed with bit of oil to the other half of soap, blend and pour on the first layer

• Don´t cover the soap, put it in cold place, if you want prevent the gel phase

• Unmould after 48 hours- if it´s still difficult to unmould, put it in freezer for one hour and then unmould easily 

• Let harden for 6-8 weeks before using

You will love this soap, the smell is amazing even after more than 3 months. It´s not happening very often with natural soaps, but my skin smells amazing too 😊
