It´s about time to make some Christmas soap, well actually, now is THE TIME for doing it, we have only 4 weeks left and cold process soap needs to cure!
I have here for you one nice, milk, cinnamon scented recipe 😊
The recipe:
!Safety
Gloves, goggles, long sleeves, ventilated area. When splashing lye water or fresh soap on skin rinse the area with tapped water for 15 min. Preparation:
- At least one day before making this soap: make the gingerbread men- melt and pour method- which is faster or cold process soap. I did CP, with cocoa powder for nice chocolate colour
- Few hours before making this soap: freeze the sheep milk in ice cube tray
Process:
- Weight all the ingredients
- Slowly add sodium hydroxide to water and frozen milk cubes and stir till it all dissolves
- Melt coconut oil, lard and shea butter, add remaining oils and let cool to 35℃
- Pour the lye milk /35℃/ through sifter into oils and stick blend to thin trace
- Add essential oil, bit of cinnamon and stick blend to medium trace /with cinnamon the trace is quite fast/
- Pour the soap into moulds, push gently the small gingerbread man into the soap
- Cover with cardboard and blanket, let get through gel phase
- Unmould after 24 hours- if it´s still difficult to unmould, put it in freezer for one hour and then unmould easily
- Let harden for 6-8 weeks before using
The scent of this soap is amazing, very christmasy! Our whole place smells so good!
However you have to be careful with cinnamon essential oil, it´s not good for sensitive skin, you can use some other one if necessary, or use smaller amount 😊
In the picture you can see two different colours of the soap. For the second batch I didn´t use milk, just water and added cocoa powder for darker color. You can definitely adjust this recipe, but don´t forget to get it through SoapCalc when changing the oils.
Happy Christmas soaping! 💗
