Triple Coffee- Soapy Cupcakes

I have to say, I don´t like doing the same recipe again, however this soap is so favourite in our household, that I made it already 3times!

I added to the last batch coffee essential oil, which is bit more expensive, but it´s worth it!
Without it, even when using fresh brewed coffee and ground coffee to trace, the soap doesn´t smell like coffee. So you have just two options- to use essential oil or synthetic fragrance oil.

Did you know, that in EU countries, it is forbidden to make soap in shape of food?  😞 Well, our kids are maybe different from the american ones and could try to eat it 😁
let´s be honest, don´t you also feel like to taste it? 😀

The recipe:

!Safety
Gloves, goggles, long sleeves, ventilated area. When splashing lye water or fresh soap on skin rinse the area with tapped water for 15 min.
Process:
  • Before you start, make brewed coffee, let it cool and then freeze (in ice cube tray)
  • Weight all the ingredients
  • Slowly add sodium hydroxide to the frozen coffee cubes and stir till it all dissolves (this can take some time, be patient 😊 ), check the temperature, if it´s too high (mostly doesn´t happen when using frozen liquid) let it cool to 30 ℃

  • Melt the oils and butters when necessary and let cool for the temperature around 30℃
  • Slowly add the lye coffee in your oils and stick blend to thin trace
  • Split the batch into two parts (3:2), to the bigger one add essential oil and ground coffee (careful with the amount of ground coffee, it can be too exfoliating for someone), pour into the moulds and let sit

  • Split the second (smaller) part into two parts, add titanium dioxide dispersed in oil to one part and 1/2-1 tablespoon of cocoa powder to the second part
  • Mix the soap to thick trace (sorry for no pictures) fill the piping bag with both colours, each on other side of the bag
this is picture from internet, the two coloured soap should look like this in the piping bag
  • First make a dollop of frosting in the center of each cupcake and then pipe the frosting around the center in spiral(mmm soapy frosting 😋 😀- PLEASE DO NOT TASTE IT!), sprinkle the top of the soap with ground coffee
this is my second batch of cupcakes, as you can see the trace is still not thick enough and both my colours are mixed together, my third batch was finally success
  • It´s difficult to cover this soap and let through gel phase, you can just let it sit uncovered or put in the freezer for 24 hours
  • Unmould after 24-48 hours
  • Let cure for 6-8 weeks

If you don´t put it in the freezer and you have problems with unmoulding, put the soap for 1-2 hours to freezer, take out and unmould.

If your frosting is kind of melting and doesn´t stay in place, the trace wasn´t thick enough. It needs practice to look for the perfect trace for piping and also practice for the piping itself.

Why do we like this soap so much?
It smells amazing- like fresh brewed coffee, it wakes you up in the morning in the shower and the ground coffee takes care about your dead skin cells.

What more to wish for, just Good morning our new darling in the bathroom!
