Did you already hear about Soleseife? The brine soap? here are few infos about this soap:
"Soleseife" is german name for soap made from salt, also called fisherman´s soap. The salt is added to lye water, not to the trace.
Mostly used oil for this soap is coconut which is adding lather to this soap, because salt decreases it.
If you use more of the coconut oil (more than 30%), the super fat level has to be higher, so the soap isn´t drying.
Salt soap is cleansing and moisturizing, helps with eczema and acne.
I really wanted to try this soap (mmmm which one I don´t want to 😀)
I opened my bottles of essential oils and picked up two which seemed nice together and which also go nice with this nice rose color.
The color of the soap is achieved by the rose clay and also the himalayan salt.
Recipe:
!Safety
Gloves, goggles, long sleeves, ventilated area. When splashing lye water or fresh soap on skin rinse the area with tapped water for 15 min.
Process:
- Weight all the ingredients
- Slowly add sodium hydroxide to the water and stir till it all dissolves
- Till the lye water is still warm add the salt and stir (it´s okay if some of the salt remains undissolved)
- Let it cool to 30°C (I usually use the lye water when it´s about room temperature and when using bergamot eo is quite necessary-it´s super accelerating)
- Melt the oils when necessary and let also cool for the temperature as the lye water is
- Slowly add the lye water into your oils and stick blend to thin trace
- Add rose clay (mixed in bit of water) and essential oils and whisk (my trace was super fast, you can see it on the soap, rather just whisk, do not blend)
- Pour the soap into cavity mould (this soap is more difficult to cut), cover with paper or cardboard, wrap in a blanket, let sit on side and go through gel phase
- Unmould after 24-48 hours
- Let cure for 4-6 weeks before using
Do you like the recipe? Let me know if you´ll try it!
