'Happy Bunny' Gentle Carrot Puree Soap for Kids

It´s getting Christmassy and those who prefer to make handmade presents are already hard working. It´s about time to make cold process soap!

This recipe isn´t very difficult, but it´s neither one of the basic ones. Experiments with fresh purees don´t have to be success on first try.
I made this soap especially for my 'little bunnies'- 3-year old god-daughters, I hope they will love it as I do 😊

I have to say lavender is one of my favourite scents these days. It´s nice and calm and number one in making kids soap. When making soap for babies or kids, don´t use any essential oil or use some, which is recommended for kids like the lavender or chamomile
The recipe is for 5 small soaps:

               7% superfatting, 60drops= about 3g essential oil
             + scale
               stick blender
               container (for oils)
               container (for lye water)
               spoon, spatula
               silicone mould

!Safety
Gloves, goggles, long sleeves, ventilated area. When splashing lye water or fresh soap on skin rinse the area with tapped water for 15 min.

Process:
  • Weight all the ingredients
  • Slowly add sodium hydroxide to the water and stir till it all dissolves. Let it cool to 27°C (I usually use the lye water when it´s about room temperature)
  • Melt the oils and butters when necessary and let also cool for the same temperature as the lye water is
  • Slowly add the lye water in your oils and stick blend to thin trace
  • Add carrot puree and essential oil, stick blend once again
  • Pour the soap into mould, cover with paper or cardboard, wrap in a blanket, let sit on side and go through gel phase
I let the soap sit in the mould for three days and it was still a bit soft. You can leave it even longer, it pops out from small moulds very easily.
After 8 weeks the pH is between 8-9, it has great lather and smells very nice. If you will make this soap for bigger kids or for yourself add 2-3 times more of the EO or just go through frangrance calculator (I use the one on bramble berry https://www.brambleberry.com/Pages/Fragrance-Calculator.aspx)
And that´s it!
I hope you enjoy the post and it inspires you to try the fresh puree in your soap next time 😊
